Should I pack a book

I am a traveler and also a book reader. If someone makes me happy have to give me my favorite book cause I thought this cold be the best gift to everyone and have the plan to give it on someone's birthday. But my friends are not agreeing on this point and have no idea what to do. Should I give the pack a book or not?
